I love nature and I am
astounded by the way plants and flowers find a way to flourish in such an
enormous urban setting like London. London is a wonderfully green city
thanks to the parks and other green spaces, but peoples gardens and
other unexpected places produce yet more beautiful examples of
flora. Everywhere I look I seem to find inspiration. I capture these images
I see around me and use them to create my work.
All my patterns tell their own stories, small pieces of my past
re-worked and put into the present. Everything I do in my work reflects
the beauty of nature even when it is abstracted and I see it as my duty to
spread this message to others. I want to welcome people into a world
of colour and visual texture that caresses the eye and speaks to the
heart. Every element of my work: colour, layout and design is dictated
by nature and the seasons. My aim is to add to and celebrate the range
of patterns that have developed through the ages and there is a retro feel
to much of my work.
I have no traditional training in pattern design, I feel this has given me
the freedom to use new ideas and develop ways of designing patterns
which are more free and original. My aim is to bring fresh new ideas to
the print design market with new interpretations of floral repeat forms,
structure and colour combinations.
